Pret- healthy fast food lunch!

Yeh I know I'm a geek- food really is one of my favourite things. So.... Imagine how happy I was when I wandered into pret for a salad and found that they now sell ready to go FRITTATA in their hot section!! Pret are stepping it up! You all know how much I love eggs, and especially how much I love a frittata.

This one was the vegetarian option because it looked amazing- Spinach, Feta and Butternut Squash! Soooo yummy and filling!

Try it!

Burger Monday!

On Monday I was finally invited to a burger Monday!
My boyfriend and his friend have been to a few of these nights now. Basically a guy in London has set out to find the best burger in London. This consists of 5 rounds of 6 different places competing in a pop up location, and the punters eating a half burger from each place, and then voting on who they thought was the best.

Well, this week the girlfriends were invited. So off to Camden brewery we went!

Apart from some amateur mistakes (eg sauce and burger dropping down my coat) I think the girls did well. We had half tickets, so just had 3 half burgers, but greedy guts over here topped up to the 6. 🐷🐽 I actually couldn't eat much of the last 2 or 3 ha- but I'm glad I gave it a try haha.

I voted for Iberica, who were the only people there serving a pork burger- by far the tastiest patty. Burger bear was my second favourite- definitely the tastiest burger. The bun and the sauce they servd was crazy good! Shake shack were there too- you can't go wrong with a shake shack burger in my eyes- we even got a free tshirt! Wahoo!

I'm hoping I get invited to the grand final round! I think I may of caught onto burger fever.

This was definitely a fatty night. I couldn't do this every week. Massively worth it!

Bonfire night treats.

I've been thinking about introducing all types of meals that I make and eat into my blog, and turning it more away from strictly clean to a more balanced lifestyle.

I thought I'd start with the amazing meal I had on bonfire night in North London- baked honey and garlic Camembert, toasted sourdough and fig salad.

It was absolutely amazing! I ate way too much of it! This was actually a portion for one person- but was shared between 2.
They had stuffed actual whole cloves into the cheese before heating it- insane! 😍

Yum yum!
All in moderation and keep active! :)

Quick. Simple. Healthy. Easy. Nutritious.

Need more reason?

Chop it all up and pop it in a lunch box! :)

Ham and chilli olive salad prepped for 2 days lunch this week. Keep on track. Preperation is key!

Healthy open sandwich lunch.

Its Wednesday, the day I usually start to flag a little and crave some stodge. I am trying to follow the paleo & primal approach diet, but decided to have some healthy, clean and organic rye bread at lunch today to beat that mid week struggle.

I bought this bread from a health shop near my work; it is organic sprouted rye bread and unlike my other preservative free rye bread it is moist and resembles a loaf of bread. Aka it is AMAZING! ❤️

I served my rye bread with organic olive and sunblush tomato hummus, organic cucumber and leaves and a serving of ham from the local butcher.
The whole thing was so tasty- and extremely filling- I actually left some food! This never happens!!

I hope you are all having a healthy and nutritious week too!

Forgot to make breakfast?

I know people say that being healthy is easy and you're making excuses if you don't eat clean... But I am not one of those people!
I know for a fact that eating clean 100% takes some thought and effort. A lot of preparation is needed to have a perfect diet.

My breakfast tends to consist of 2 boiled eggs and 2 portions of fruit. But if I'm not home the night before in order to boil some eggs then I find myself grabbing something from a shop or cafe, which means if I am running low on will power that morning, I end up with a low nutrition and high carb option. I just can't help it. The croissants smell so good, the toast shouts out my name and don't even get me started on McDonald's hash browns!! (Hey- nobody is perfect!)

So as you can imagine- I was very happy to find myself having a smoothie twice last week for breakfast. No effort required and no health shop needed. The local corner shop stocks these babies! :)

So breakfast was a smoothie and some nuts (which I always have in my bag) which I would call a perfectly clean and nutritious breakfast.

Some people criticise these type of smoothies due to their sugar content. But let me remind you that all of the sugar is naturally occurring from the fruit & there is no added sugar or nasties.
To put it simply:  220-260 calories of this is better than 200 calories worth of empty nutrional beneficent food (eg hash browns!!!).

Make healthy choices.

Monday food diary entry.

FOOD DIARY:
Monday 28th October, 2014

•Breakfast consisted of a black coffee, 2 boiled eggs and a portion of pineapple.

•Lunch was a fish cake and olive salad, with a portion of grapes for desert.

•On my journey home I had a portion of mixed nuts and seeds.

Dinner was, yep you guessed it, eggs and salmon!! 🙈
I do realise that my posts are getting repetitive, but I am enjoying my meals so much. They are quick to prepare, paleo friendly, filling and nutritious. What's not to love?! :)

I had smoked salmon with poached eggs and a big salad. Eggs topped with lots of pepper of course.

I would call that a clean and nutritious day! Any comment or criticism?

I hope you are all having a clean and healthy Monday. I didn't make it to the gym, but I have been 100% clean.
Same again tomorrow!!

Julienne peeler!

Today turned or to be a good day.
For only geeky reasons- I had a delivery! A food / kitchen utensil delivery!

Woohoo!
Honestly- it's the best £3.50 I ever did spend!

I present to you my amazing julienne peeler!

With this wonderful creation, I peeled some carrot into a bowl, with a squeeze of lemon and a dusting of black pepper.

Served it up with some fish cakes and enjoyed!

Buy one! You won't regret it. I'm so excited to try some other ideas with it!

Oriental Lunch.

One message that I will always push, is that eating out does not mean eating bad. No matter where you eat- you can eat healthily.

I had lunch at a restaurant in Islington, not far from the hospital that I work in this week. They are used a lot by the staff for there lunch time sushi deals. However as I am trying to be as paleo as possible I am avoiding carbs, therefore sushi was not allowed :( So I had an amazing big soup bowl instead :) full of nutritious Chinese vegetables and seafood. I also had a side of edamame beans.
So tasty. The soup was on the menu with noodles, noodles were not allowed due to the carbs, so I asked for mine minus noodle = carb free clean and healthy paleo friendly lunch! :)
Edamame beans have amazing health benefits, so eat them all up!

Whole Earth Peanut Butter!

It is true. I am an addict. A whole earth peanut butter addict. Sorry. Not sorry.

I'm allowed to be addicted- this stuff is good! Tastes good and is healthy good too!!

This morning for breakfast I had what my body wanted- a big mug of camomile, vanilla and honey tea with a slice of preservative free rye bread and peanut butter! Perfect.

This was enjoyed whilst reading 6 chapters of my new book, with my feet up after a walk and long shower.

A great start to the day!

Avocado spread time!

I've said it before, and I will say it again...
Avocado spread is the best!!

Lunch today was my perfect go to meal-
•Preservative free Rye Bread
•Mashed avocado - spread like butter
•Soft boiled eggs
•Black pepper

H E A V E N !

This one is so quick and easy to make, and only has 3 ingredients. Plus salt and pepper.

Simples:

•Boil 1 or 2 free range eggs for 3 minutes
•Toast 1 or 2 slices of Rye Bread
•Mash avocado into a spread
•Apply spread to toasted Rye Bread
•Add a little salt
•Pop on the egg, slice into quarters
•Arrange nicely and add pepper
•optional- Cut Rye Bread into bite size pieces

The avocado spread tastes just like butter with a little salt on. Honest! It's amazing!!

Step by step pictures:

Enjoy!!

Breakfast on the go.

Good morning shiny happy people.

Meh! Sometimes I am really not a morning person. But that's fine. Breakfast is easily sorted with zero effort.

Mission lazy breakfast-
The night before follow these steps:
•Boil 2 eggs
•Put a piece of fruit in your work bag
•Put a herbal/green tea bag in a hot drink holder

That's it! In the morning- grab the eggs, pot boiling water in the cup and go.

Realistic motivation

"Lets be realistic here. You don't drop two jean sizes in one day. You won't lose fifty pounds in one month. You're going to binge out every now and then. You will go a day or two without working out. Your weight is going to fluctuate here and there. You're going to try new techniques, and they're not going to work. You're human. You're going to fail. But nothing great is ever accomplished without a few obstacles."

So keep going!!! :)
