Healthy open sandwich lunch.

Its Wednesday, the day I usually start to flag a little and crave some stodge. I am trying to follow the paleo & primal approach diet, but decided to have some healthy, clean and organic rye bread at lunch today to beat that mid week struggle.

I bought this bread from a health shop near my work; it is organic sprouted rye bread and unlike my other preservative free rye bread it is moist and resembles a loaf of bread. Aka it is AMAZING! ❤️

I served my rye bread with organic olive and sunblush tomato hummus, organic cucumber and leaves and a serving of ham from the local butcher.
The whole thing was so tasty- and extremely filling- I actually left some food! This never happens!!

I hope you are all having a healthy and nutritious week too!

Forgot to make breakfast?

I know people say that being healthy is easy and you're making excuses if you don't eat clean... But I am not one of those people!
I know for a fact that eating clean 100% takes some thought and effort. A lot of preparation is needed to have a perfect diet.

My breakfast tends to consist of 2 boiled eggs and 2 portions of fruit. But if I'm not home the night before in order to boil some eggs then I find myself grabbing something from a shop or cafe, which means if I am running low on will power that morning, I end up with a low nutrition and high carb option. I just can't help it. The croissants smell so good, the toast shouts out my name and don't even get me started on McDonald's hash browns!! (Hey- nobody is perfect!)

So as you can imagine- I was very happy to find myself having a smoothie twice last week for breakfast. No effort required and no health shop needed. The local corner shop stocks these babies! :)

So breakfast was a smoothie and some nuts (which I always have in my bag) which I would call a perfectly clean and nutritious breakfast.

Some people criticise these type of smoothies due to their sugar content. But let me remind you that all of the sugar is naturally occurring from the fruit & there is no added sugar or nasties.
To put it simply:  220-260 calories of this is better than 200 calories worth of empty nutrional beneficent food (eg hash browns!!!).

Make healthy choices.

Monday food diary entry.

FOOD DIARY:
Monday 28th October, 2014

•Breakfast consisted of a black coffee, 2 boiled eggs and a portion of pineapple.

•Lunch was a fish cake and olive salad, with a portion of grapes for desert.

•On my journey home I had a portion of mixed nuts and seeds.

Dinner was, yep you guessed it, eggs and salmon!! 🙈
I do realise that my posts are getting repetitive, but I am enjoying my meals so much. They are quick to prepare, paleo friendly, filling and nutritious. What's not to love?! :)

I had smoked salmon with poached eggs and a big salad. Eggs topped with lots of pepper of course.

I would call that a clean and nutritious day! Any comment or criticism?

I hope you are all having a clean and healthy Monday. I didn't make it to the gym, but I have been 100% clean.
Same again tomorrow!!
